Our Nursery & Pre-school

At Wellesley Haddon Dene, we warmly welcome children aged 2 to 4 years into our nurturing Early Years Nursery and Pre-School. Our thoughtfully designed indoor classrooms provide a bright and engaging learning environment for young children.

Beyond the classroom, our safe and stimulating outdoor area encourages exploration and play, complemented by access to the expansive Wellesley 24-acre grounds. Children also enjoy unique opportunities such as weekly Beach School and Forest School sessions and access to our indoor swimming pool, creating development and fun in an inspiring environment.

Inspiring Learning Environment
Qualified teachers create a love of learning, focusing on children’s social, emotional, and physical development. Specialist French, Music, PE, and Art teachers visit the Early Years setting, enriching children’s experiences in a familiar and supportive environment.

A Seamless Start to School Life
From their first day, children are welcomed into the wider Wellesley Haddon Dene School community. Younger pupils enjoy buddy schemes with Prep School children, shared lunches, and Beach School outings, helping them build confidence and friendships.

Play-Based Learning
Our flexible curriculum blends child-led play with guided activities, encouraging creativity, independence, and curiosity. Dynamic planning ensures each child’s interests and needs are met, supporting their development through engaging, play-based learning.

Outdoor Adventures
Set amidst stunning parkland, outdoor learning is an essential part of Early Years at Wellesley. Children explore our weekly Beach School, Woodlands, and Forest School area, building a connection with nature through hands-on experiences.

Transition to Pre-Prep
Nursery children are guaranteed entry into our Reception class. Pre-school teachers work closely with the wider school to ensure a smooth transition, with familiarisation activities and opportunities to spend time with Reception staff. This seamless progression helps children feel confident and prepared for the next stage of their learning journey.
