Green School Status
One of our school values is respect. Children are taught from a very young age to respect the environment and how they can take constructive steps to prevent further damage. In July 2023, we were given a ‘Silver’ Award’ for our ongoing commitment to the environment from the Kent Wilder Awards. Our Wild Club, led by some older students, have championed change through the following initiatives:
- Monthly beach cleans: Every class is timetabled so that one local beach clean is completed each month. We recently committed to the Great British Spring Clean.
- Recycling.
- Growing our own vegetables.
- Creating homes for local wildlife such as bat boxes, bug hotels, bird boxes and hedgehog highways.
- ‘No Mow’ May.
- Weekly wildlife clubs – monitoring local plants and wildlife.
- Honey Harvesting from our resident beehives.
