Wellesley Haddon Dene Welcomes New Headmaster, Duncan Andrews

Broadstairs, Kent, 11th December 2024

Wellesley Haddon Dene is proud to announce the appointment of Duncan Andrews as its new Headmaster, marking an exciting new chapter for this prestigious independent school in Broadstairs. Renowned for its exceptional educational environment and strong commitment to sustainability, Wellesley Haddon Dene is delighted to have a leader of Mr Andrews’ calibre join its community.

Mr Andrews brings a distinguished career in independent education, including transformative roles at the Merlin School in Putney, Wetherby Pre-Preparatory School in Kensington, and most recently as Deputy Head at St Faith’s Prep School in Kent. A newly trained ISI Team Inspector, he has a proven track record of delivering academic excellence while creating and developing inclusive and nurturing school environments. At St Faith’s, Mr Andrews spearheaded an award-winning STEAM curriculum and guided the school to an outstanding ISI inspection.

Reflecting the ethos of Wellesley Haddon Dene, Mr Andrews champions the belief that education should be as enriching as it is rigorous. Nestled within 24 acres of stunning parkland, Wellesley Haddon Dene offers a truly unique educational experience. The school’s innovative curriculum places outdoor learning at its heart, allowing children to connect with the natural world through activities such as forest school and beach school. Facilities like an indoor swimming pool, squash courts, cricket pitches, an orchard, and an apiary support a well-rounded education that develops not just academic prowess but also personal growth.

His wife, Jade, and their two sons will be joining him on this journey, and they are looking forward to becoming part of the Wellesley Haddon Dene community. Reflecting on his appointment, Mr Andrews said:

“My family and I are thrilled to be joining Wellesley Haddon Dene and as Headmaster, I am eager to immerse myself in the school community. From my visits, I have been inspired by the warmth and ambition of the school, and I look forward to working closely with staff, parents, and pupils to build a love of learning and a culture of excellence. Together, we will ensure every child thrives academically and personally.”
