Beyond the Classroom

There’s only so far that classroom teaching can go, and our belief in the importance of trips and experience goes a long way to supplement classroom learning. Our range of extra-curricular activities, such as sporting clubs, school trips, and speakers’ visits ensures that children are engaged in learning and that they are able to experience more than a classroom. We aim to inspire your child, and foster a curiosity that will enable them to perform at their best throughout their academic career.

Sports

All pupils are encouraged to embrace sport and games for all, with access to specialist staff and Wellesley’s outstanding facilities and extensive grounds. There is some timetabled physical activity every day, and the children are taught basic skills, and introduced to a variety of sports, including football, hockey, tag rugby, cricket, gymnastics and tennis, as well as weekly swimming lessons. Competitive fixtures begin from Year 3.

Creative Arts

Class music lessons focus on singing and the use of instruments (percussion, ocarina and recorder) while individual or shared instrumental lessons are available from Year 1. From Reception, children have access to specialist teaching in art and are able to utilise our art studio. Children participate in at least one major school production per year.

Activities

There is a structured programme of activities and clubs, which are available from Reception. Clubs and activities on offer include: arts and crafts, Code Kids, Classics Club, Construction Club, Cooking Club and many more.
