Our Deputy Head Students

Year 8 Deputy Head Student – Melody Flowers

Hello to the Wellesley Haddon Dene community! I am extremely proud to be Deputy Head Girl this year. Coming from Wellesley House, last year was so exciting for me, watching the school I love transform into an even more vibrant and inspiring place. Everyone here is so lucky, and I will endeavour to make my final year here the best yet, encouraging every student to do the same, to find their voice and get stuck into the special community and opportunities we have. I love singing in the school choir, and this has also allowed me to get to know students from all year groups. One thing we all have in common is that we want to feel happy at school. As Deputy Head Girl, one of my roles will be acting as a bridge between teachers and students. I know from my own experience that the amazing teachers and staff at WHD will help work out any type of problem or concern a student might be having, not just with academics. Our teachers truly care about our overall wellbeing, and I hope to show students that they can reach out if they need support of any kind or want to talk about something even if it’s not always easy to do. I will also be supporting teachers, staff and school leaders wherever needed – helping with events and showing our beautiful facilities to visitors. Most of all, I am a friend to anyone who needs one. A great school is a group effort and I will help lead it to that.

Year 8 Deputy Head Student – Felix Butterfill

I have been a weekly boarder since I joined Wellesley in 2019, following in the footsteps of my brother and sister.

I have gained so much from this school, and in particular from being a boarder. In my role as deputy head I hope to help promote the boarding aspect of WHD, as it has helped me learn to look after myself, given me confidence, and the ability to get along with all sorts of different people.  I also think that all the time I’ve spent here has given me a better understanding of the school that would be useful in my role.

I am incredibly pleased to have been given this position, and have been giving some thought to what it entails. I have decided that I want to lead by example – and you can’t go far wrong with working hard and being kind and respectful to everyone!

Deputy Head – Clara Montgomery

I am excited to be chosen as Deputy Head girl. I hope to work with the Head Girl, Suri, and share ideas with her so we can pass them to Mrs Parpworth . I want to make sure everyone has the best time using all the facilities that WHD offers.
Everybody’s ideas are good and should be heard and I will try to make that possible. I will also back up the Heads when needed.

“Wellesley has given me confidence and independence in all that I do. It has given me the opportunity to meet new people, make new friends and explore new things that I would never be able to do at any other school.”
