British values

At Wellesley Haddon Dene School, we take very seriously our responsibility to prepare children for life in modern Britain. We ensure that British Values are introduced, re-enforced, and are integral to the ethos of our school. They are evident throughout our PHSE teaching and also in the school environment, with children taking an active role in promoting these values.  Children embrace British values with enthusiasm. They are keen to understand, and are respectful of the beliefs of others. They are proud to contribute to the life of the school in many ways, for example through acting as house captains or school council representatives.

We also emphasise the importance of understanding what it means to be British and the values we should demonstrate in order to be model citizens.  These are:

  • Democracy
  • The Rule of Law
  • Individual Liberty
  • Mutual Respect
  • Tolerance of Different Faiths and Beliefs

Christian ethos

Chapel is an important part of our Christian ethos, with values-based messages permeating throughout the Wellesley Haddon Dene community. The children are also encouraged to contribute to the wider community, through building links, helping people, and raising money for charity. In RE, children learn about the importance of respecting all religions and faiths.
