The Wellesley Haddon Dene
COMMUNITY

Wellesley Haddon Dene is a family-orientated preparatory school where pupils aged between 2-13 years have a chance to shine – in the classroom, in the creative arts and on the sports field – supported by exceptional pastoral care.  We offer a range of boarding options – full, weekly, flexi and occasional – and we cater for day pupils, who are fully integrated into the school and benefit from an extended school day.

Our Beautiful
LOCATION

Wellesley is located in the quintessentially British seaside town of Broadstairs, famed for its Victorian architecture and beautiful white cliff-edged sandy beaches, and for being the home of Charles Dickens. The Victorians recognised the health benefits of being by the sea and we fully endorse this thinking, incorporating the local beaches into the curriculum via our beach club, where children get the chance to have lots of traditional seaside fun whilst learning about marine life and bio-diversity.

The Wellesley Haddon Dene
VALUES

  • Kindness
  • Courage
  • Respect
  • Teamwork
  • Enjoyment

These are the values that our pupils, staff and wider community agree to uphold. They are the heart of the school and are the foundation of the strong community at Wellesley Haddon Dene. They help pupils to form lifelong friendships, and to guide their moral compass during their time at Wellesley and throughout their lives.

The Headmaster’s
Welcome

We firmly believe that children who are happy and inspired succeed, and our broad curriculum, exceptional pastoral care and nurturing environment are designed to foster the individual strengths of every pupil. Our aim is to develop a love of learning in our pupils and academic success is a priority. We offer small classes and superb facilities, supported by a team of talented and dedicated staff….

JDRM Gavin Portraits-3

“A small and extraordinarily caring prep school with traditional values, which produces self-assured and considerate children who go on to schools all over the country.”

GOOD SCHOOLS GUIDE

“The quality of the boarding experience is excellent and fully supports the ethos of the school that success follows success, whether in or outside the classroom, and occurs naturally in pupils who are happy and motivated.”

ISI REPORT

“We love the ‘family feel’ and friendliness of the school and how it has motivated our children.”
